This site is an extension of my main blog The Four Ages of Sand - see navigation bar above for more - and is devoted to my interest in Bird Photography.
4AoS is updated 2 or 3 times a day whereas this site is updated whenever I've had a successful birding trip, taken a decent photograph, or photographed a new bird. The calendar on the left will show when there has been a new post or an addition to one of the bird pages.
Below are links to each of the 76 species I've managed to photograph so far. Some of the photos are simply record shots: they record the fact that I've seen the bird but may well be low quality images, or taken from a great distance. As I build up a collection of images, I'll post the later ones at the top, so hopefully over time, the quality of the archives will improve!
I've been fascinated by birds for over 10 years now. I lived in Spain for a year and managed to see a lot of lovely birds there, then lived in North East Poland for 4 years and became quite a serious birdwatcher. However, I had very little contact with other birders which means that my enthusiasm has not been matched by knowledge. In fact I'm quite embarrassed by how little I actually know.
Now that I'm back in Britain and have regular contact with other birdwatchers, as well as easy access to all the resources on the Net, I'm hoping this will change soon.

I'm not a big "Lister" but I keep a British life List a 2010 British List and a list for Amwell, my favourite Bird site at the moment.
